In the Talmud, Tu b'Av is considered one of the most joyous days in the Jewish calendar.
During the time of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, the 15th of Av marked the beginning of the grape harvest. The Talmud teaches that the daughters of Israel used to dress in white and go out to the vineyards to dance. Young, unmarried men would follow them with the hope of finding a bride.
